    Seven horizontal stripes of green, yellow, red and black with a white triangle at the flagpole side carrying a red star and the gold Zimbabwe Bird.

    Adoption and legal status
    The flag was adopted at independence on 18 April 1980 and is defined by the Flag of Zimbabwe Act.

    History of the design

    The Zimbabwe Bird comes from soapstone carvings found at Great Zimbabwe and appears above a red star inside the white triangle.
