How to identify it
Three plain horizontal bands of red, white and black, with no emblem. Egypt adds a gold eagle to the white band, while Iraq adds green script.

- The plain red, white and black tricolour was adopted on 22 May 1990 when North and South Yemen united.
History of the design
It simplified the two predecessor flags by omitting North Yemen’s star and South Yemen’s triangle and star.
