    Which design is shown here

The flag shown here is the green-white-black design with three red stars, used as Syria’s flag since December 2024 and set out in the constitutional declaration of March 2025. The earlier red-white-black flag with two green stars, used for most of the period from 1980 onwards, is a historical design and is not shown on this page.

    How to identify it

Green, white and black bands with three red five-pointed stars in a row across the white band.

    Design and construction

    Adoption and legal status
The green, white and black flag with three red stars was specified by Syria’s interim constitutional declaration in March 2025.

    History of the design

It replaced the red, white and black two-star state flag used under the former government and revives a design with earlier Syrian use.
