How to identify it
A yellow cross on a mid-blue field, no outline. Compared with Finland the cross is thinner and the field is much darker.

- The blue and yellow cross is documented from the sixteenth century and was restated in the Flag Act of 1906.
History of the design
The civil flag uses a 5:8 proportion. Its colours derive from Sweden’s national arms rather than a modern symbolic code.
