How to identify it

A red field with a large green rectangle in the centre carrying a white crescent that opens toward the outer edge.

Design and construction

Adoption and legal status

The modern red, green and white design was established before independence; its striped flagpole edge was removed in September 1965.

History of the design

The removal left the clean red border and central green panel with a white crescent used today.
