- The 1950 Federation of Malaya flag was adapted for Malaysia in 1963 by increasing the stripe and star-point count to fourteen.
Officially documented meaning
The fourteen stripes and fourteen-pointed star represent the member states and federal government. The crescent represents Islam, and yellow is the royal colour of the Malay rulers.
