How to identify it
Red, white and light blue horizontal bands. The bottom band is a noticeably lighter sky blue than the Dutch flag, and the flag itself is drawn longer.
Design and construction
- Adoption and legal status
- The tricolour was placed on a statutory footing by the 1972 law on national emblems.
History of the design
Law permits 3:5 and 1:2 forms. Its lighter blue and different legal proportions distinguish it from the Netherlands flag.
