How to identify it
A red field with a yellow sun of forty rays, crossed by lines representing the roof opening of a yurt.
Design and construction
- Adoption and legal status
- The original design was adopted in 1992. Legislation approved in December 2023 straightened the sun’s rays while retaining the main composition.
History of the design
The 2023 amendment addressed criticism that the earlier wavy rays made the sun resemble a sunflower. The red field, sun, forty rays and central yurt-roof motif remain.
