Green, white and red horizontal bands with a red emblem in the centre of the white and a band of repeated white Arabic script running along the inner edges of the green and red.

- The present flag was adopted in 1980 after the Islamic Revolution.
History of the design
The central emblem replaced the Lion and Sun, while the repeated Allahu Akbar border inscription appears eleven times along each coloured band.
