How to identify it
Three plain horizontal bands of green, yellow and blue, all the same depth. Unlike Rwanda, it has no sun and its blue band is at the bottom.
Design and construction
- Adoption and legal status
- The present tricolour was adopted at independence in 1960.
History of the design
A 1959 predecessor had a narrower yellow band and a French tricolour in the upper flagpole corner; independence removed that canton.
