How to identify it
A white cross on red, with the upright stroke set toward the flagpole side rather than the middle. Denmark has no outline or second colour inside the cross.
Design and construction
- Adoption and legal status
- The cross flag has been used as the Danish national emblem for centuries; the civil flag construction was regulated in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
History of the design
The white Scandinavian cross is offset toward the flagpole. Danish law prescribes construction and display but does not assign colour symbolism.
