White above red, with a blue triangle extending from the flagpole side to the middle. Poland uses the same white-over-red band order but has no blue triangle.

The Czech Republic retained the former Czechoslovak flag through Act No. 3/1993 when the federation dissolved.

History of the design

The blue triangle was introduced in 1920 to distinguish the earlier white-over-red bicolour from Poland’s flag.
